Community Services

One of our six neighbourhood priorities is community services which includes banks, post offices, public transit & bus shelters, grocery stores, and walkability. Each post related to this topic can be found below:

  • 18th Annual Happy Days on Henderson: June 8th, 2019 at 11:00 am – 3:00 pm, 81 Henderson Hwy.

    Happy Days on Henderson is a popular, family fun day. This year it’s on Saturday, June 8, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m at 81 Henderson Hwy. ( at Talbot Ave.).

    FREE attractions include Children’s Games, Face Painting, Bouncers, Petting Farm, FIT KIDS display, Bike Valet, Bike Check-ups and free refurbished bikes given away. Police and Fire Department displays, community tables and booths and so much more make this a great event. We hope to see you there!

    Any assistance is greatly appreciated and you get special recognition at the event when you make a contribution. We will display all contributors on a community sponsorship board and contributors will be mentioned during the day from the stage.

    Happy Days on Henderson is a popular, family fun day. Over 1500 people attend and can see your name! This year it’s on Saturday, June 8, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m..

    The Elmwood community hosts Happy Days on Henderson on the front grounds of Mennonite Brethren Collegiate and the community facility at 81 Henderson Highway.

    Over 1,500 people participate in this event. It includes a free hot dog lunch and stage entertainment.

    More information about the flower bulbs given out at the AGM:

    At the AGM and Community Celebration there will be packages of flower bulbs for people to take home courtesy of the Winnipeg Bulb Project. Individuals commit to: planting their bulbs in a place the broader community will be able to see them bloom, and to share the photos and/or allow the Winnipeg Bulb Project or Chalmers Neighbourhood Renewal Corporation to take photos of the flowers blooming in the spring. The Winnipeg Bulb Project, through the generous support of its donors, supplies spring-flowering bulbs to charities and homeowners in lower-income neighbourhoods.   • A Message from the Easter Corridor Study (Potential RAPID TRANSIT CORRIDOR between DOWNTOWN and eastern Winnipeg)

    The Eastern Corridor Study is looking at the potential for a rapid transit corridor between downtown and eastern Winnipeg. The project will look at how a new rapid transit corridor will affect transportation and land use in the eastern part of Winnipeg.  The project also includes an investigation into the future of the Louise Bridge, improved cycling and walking infrastructure, and a new transit garage.

     

    Continuing on from the public workshops that were held in the spring, the Eastern Corridor Study team will be visiting community events throughout eastern Winnipeg this summer, to find out how the future rapid transit corridor from downtown to Transcona can best serve your community. Here’s where you’ll be able to find us:

    The tools can be accessed through winnipeg.ca/easterncorridor. The idea wall will be open for the duration of the project, while the other tools will remain open until the end of July.

     

    We want to hear your thoughts, ideas, and concerns as they relate to the Eastern Rapid Transit Corridor. The information gathered this summer will help our team develop transit route recommendations in the fall.  We hope that you’ll take the opportunity to share your opinions with us, so that we can build a great rapid transit network together.
