More information about the flower bulbs given out at the AGM:

At the AGM and Community Celebration there will be packages of flower bulbs for people to take home courtesy of the Winnipeg Bulb Project. Individuals commit to: planting their bulbs in a place the broader community will be able to see them bloom, and to share the photos and/or allow the Winnipeg Bulb Project or Chalmers Neighbourhood Renewal Corporation to take photos of the flowers blooming in the spring. The Winnipeg Bulb Project, through the generous support of its donors, supplies spring-flowering bulbs to charities and homeowners in lower-income neighbourhoods. To donate to the Winnipeg Bulb Project please click here.

Chalmers Neighbourhood Renewal Corporation in partnership with Northeast Winnipeg Historical Society is proud to present a series of three events in our neighbourhood. All events are FREE and open to everyone. Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to learn some fascinating local history!

All events will have FREE refreshments & snacks.

‘Mennonites in Winnipeg: From Mission Field; to Refuge; to Home’ and History of the Mennonite Brethren Collegiate Institute

Mennonites began to arrive in southern Manitoba in 1874, and today the Mennonite population in Winnipeg is one of the densest in the world! Come learn more at this FREE Heritage event in our neighbourhood.

2. The Hamilton House and other Local Stories  (POSTER: FREE History Event 2017 – May 28 )

Stories of the area read by Ruth Wright, a fascinating presentation by Linda Horodecki about HAMILTON HOUSE (185 Henderson Hwy.) & Dr Thomas Glendenning Hamilton’s famous physic studies & experiments, and time for sharing family/local history after.

3. Heritage Walking Tour (POSTER: FREE Walking Tour 2017 )

1:00 pm Approximately 60-90 minutes
Starts: Brazier St. at Ottawa Ave., Ends: Ernie O’Dowda Park (Louise Bridge)
Tour walking distance: 1.4 km 

This FREE historical tour will include corner grocery stores of the past, the Elmwood Curling Club and more. There will be a picnic at the park after the tour. FREE refreshments & snacks. Rain or Shine! Everyone is welcome.
